FAQ

Questions hosts ask.

Buying and setup

How do we buy StarrParty?

Tell us about your event with the Plan your event form and someone will get back to you promptly with a secure payment link. Once you've paid, your event is set up and ready in minutes, and you get an email with your sign-in link.

What does it cost?

$250 per event for up to 300 guests, with everything included. Corporate events, events over 300 guests and multi-event packs are quoted.

Can we get a refund?

Yes, a full refund if you ask before your event starts (before you turn it on). Once it has started, there are no refunds. Refunds aren't automatic: send us a request and we'll handle it in a timely manner. We permanently delete your event and everything in it first, then refund your original payment method. It may take 5 to 7 days to reach you, depending on your bank.

How far ahead should we book?

Any time. Setup takes minutes once you've paid. Booking a couple of weeks ahead gives you time to make the quests your own and print the sign.

Does someone from StarrParty need to be there?

No. It runs itself, and you get a host guide that covers every screen.

Guests

Do guests need to download an app?

No. They scan a QR code and StarrParty opens in their phone's browser, on iPhone or Android. Nothing to install, no account to create.

How do guests sign in?

With their email and a six-digit code we send them. There's no password. Their email is also how the gallery link and the final-thoughts note reach them after the event.

What about older or less techy guests?

It's built for them: big text and buttons, a one-minute tour, and a button for every gesture. Nothing is required, so guests play as much or as little as they like.

What do guests actually do?

Small quests that get people talking ("hear a story you haven't heard before"), a Bingo board, teams with friends, photos for the shared album, and the day's schedule.

What if the venue has bad signal?

Photos wait on the guest's phone and upload by themselves when the signal comes back. Nothing is lost and nobody has to retake anything.

Does it cost guests anything?

Never. Guests don't pay, don't install anything and don't see ads.

Hosts

Can we change the quests?

Yes. Edit any quest, switch some off, or write your own before the event starts. Inside jokes and family traditions make the best quests. For corporate events, we write quests with you.

Do we have to run it on the day?

Barely. Tap Turn event on as guests arrive and End event at the end. If you set start and end times, we email you a reminder for both.

Can someone else help?

Yes. Make any guest a moderator and they can review photos for you. Moderators play like everyone else.

Is there a leaderboard?

Only if you want one. Points and leaderboards can be switched on or off at any time.

Does it work for events other than weddings?

Yes: conferences, mixers, holiday parties, offsites, birthdays, anniversaries and reunions.

Photos, privacy and your keepsake

Who can see the photos?

Only people who signed in to your event. Nothing is public, nothing is posted anywhere, and there are no ads.

Can we check photos before everyone sees them?

Yes. Choose to review photos first, share them right away, or keep the gallery hidden until you publish it after the event.

What do we get afterwards?

A keepsake download you request whenever you're ready: from your dashboard, open Photos and start an export, and we email you a link when it's ready. It has every photo at full quality, every guest's selfie, a guest list, and every answer and final thought guests wrote. It isn't sent automatically, so request it within 90 days of the event ending.

What are final thoughts?

The day after the event, each guest gets one email with a personal link to share a favorite moment or a note for you. No sign-in is needed, and their notes come straight to you.

Can guests take back a photo during the event?

Not while they're playing. Once a photo is added, only a host or moderator can hide it from the gallery, and hidden photos stay in your keepsake download. This is separate from deleting their data: a guest can still ask for everything they added to your event to be deleted (see below), and that does remove their photos, including from your keepsake.

How do you handle privacy laws like the GDPR?

We collect only what the game needs, never sell data or show ads, and delete everything 90 days after your event. Guests can see, correct or delete their data, and we support the rights the GDPR and similar laws give them. Our privacy policy has the details. Read the privacy policy.

Can a guest delete their data?

Yes. In the event, Me → Delete my data asks them to confirm with an emailed code, then deletes everything they added to that event (selfie, photos, answers and final thoughts) 24 hours later, including from your keepsake. Signing in again before then cancels it. Hosts can also delete a guest's data from the Guests screen. Downloads you already made can't be recalled.

How long do you keep our data?

Everything is kept for 90 days after your event ends, so you can download your keepsake. Then it's permanently deleted and can't be restored. We email you a reminder a week before.
