Terms of service

The service

StarrParty provides an event game and shared photo album for a single event ("your event"), used by the event's hosts and guests in a web browser or in our iPhone and Android apps. When you buy an event, we set it up and send the host a sign-in link. The host runs the event from their phone.

Our apps are free to download and open the same events as the website. Nobody needs them to take part: every guest can play in their browser.

Payment and refunds

  • You pay the amount shown in the payment link we send you, or the quote we've agreed with you. Payment is taken through Stripe before your event is set up.
  • You can have a full refund if you ask before your event starts (before the host turns it on). Once the event has started, payments are not refundable.
  • Refunds aren't automatic. Send a request through our contact form; we handle it in a timely manner after we receive it. We permanently delete the event and all its data before refunding the original payment method through Stripe. Refunds may take 5 to 7 days to arrive, depending on your bank. A request has to reach us before the event is turned on.

Hosts

  • You're responsible for who you invite and for your event's settings, including whether photos are reviewed before they're shared.
  • Please let your guests know photos and answers they add will be shared with the event and kept for you, as described in our privacy policy.
  • Download anything you want to keep within 90 days after the event ends. After that, everything from the event is permanently deleted and can't be restored.
  • Guests can delete their own data from your event at any time. It's removed from the gallery and from your keepsake 24 hours after they confirm, and downloads you made before then aren't affected. If a guest asks you directly, you can delete their data from the Guests screen.

Everyone using StarrParty

  • You agree to these terms when you tick the box as you sign in to an event. We keep a record of that agreement, as described in our privacy policy.
  • Only add photos and words you have the right to share, and nothing illegal, hateful or explicit.
  • Don't try to access events you weren't invited to, or to disrupt the service.
  • Hosts and moderators can hide photos, and hosts can block guests from their event.
  • You keep ownership of the photos and words you add. You allow us to store and show them to the event's guests and hosts, and to include them in the hosts' download, only to run your event.

Data protection

We handle personal data as described in our privacy policy, and support everyone's rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR and similar laws, including access to and deletion of their data. Hosts use guests' data only to run and remember their event.

Availability

We work hard to keep StarrParty running smoothly, but we can't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, for example if a venue has no phone signal. Photos taken while offline upload when the signal returns.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, StarrParty's total liability for any event is limited to the amount you paid for that event, and we're not liable for indirect losses.
