Our story

I built the app I wanted at my wedding.

I was getting married, and I wanted an app for the day. I looked at what was out there and didn't like any of it.

The photo apps were nice. Guests scan a code, photos land in an album. But none of them caught the feeling I was after: something that helps guests actually meet each other, while also capturing the moments and keepsakes my wife and I could look back on after the day was over.

Building apps and designing systems is my job. So I built the one I wanted: small conversation quests, a Bingo board for the whole room, teams for the tables, a shared album, and a keepsake download with every photo, story and face from the night. I made it work for our oldest guests as well as our youngest. And it ran at our wedding exactly as planned.

Why "Starr"

My wife's maiden name is Starr. I named the app after her to keep her name with us, and to honor her and her family: the kind of people who light up a room, who will talk to anyone, and who always have a story to share. That's exactly what I wanted our guests to do.

Why we're sharing it

We're not a company that hired developers to make money off weddings. We built StarrParty to use it ourselves, and we're sharing it with couples and hosts who want the same thing we did: a room full of people getting to know each other, and a way to keep those moments.

If that sounds like your wedding, or your company's holiday party, we'd love to hear about it.
